For years there has been basically a myth that if you replace the glibc rpms on a RaQ2 you can build MySQL. Myself I've tried this a few times and haven't had much luck building the full version of MySQL and MySQL-Max on the RaQ2 the way the MySQL Developers Built it for distribution.
It might be possible to do the old ./configure, make, make install routine but this is actually a pretty flawed way of building MySQL on the RaQ2 or for that matter building most anything. Redhat based systems work on an rpm basis and do so to increase the manageability of the programs that make up the OS.
Over the years I have found that even with "how to's", most people still can't get it to build correctly and run.
On the RaQ2 (which is the first Cobalt RaQ I ever bought) it takes around 2 hours for the rpm to build or fail to build. In order to get MySQL 3.58.x to build correctly on the RaQ2, I spent literally over a year working on the code until it finally built correctly. Some things still don't build correctly and never will as 3.58.x is no longer supported.
Since I have so much time in on this project at this time I do offer to install my build with php4 on clean systems for the very low price of $50
This also goes to help support my updates. More information about this can be found here http://www.zeffie.com/RaQ2-Updates.html _________________ http://www.zeffie.com/
